Parent Information

At Pleasant Plains High School, AP Chemistry is one of the first Advanced Placement courses students can enroll in.  Both students and parents need to be aware of the challenges and rigor present in any AP course.  These are college level courses taught in high school are very challenging.

Knowing your student can go a long way towards understanding their progress through an AP course.  Students don't have to be geniuses to succeed in an AP course, but they do need to understand the expectation differences between high school courses and college courses.  College Board has put together many resources for both students and parents.  On a more local level, talk to past students and parents of students who have taken the course.  Making those personal comparisons may give you a better feel for how appropriate the course is for your student.
